PostSubject: Goodwood Revival   Mon Sep 08, 2008 7:04 am

Cool A Historic Thread.
Thanks Lads rally driver

The 2008 Goodwood Revival this autumn will be even more of a throwback to the ‘good old days’ of motor racing, the organisers promise. The Revival celebrates two milestones this year – the 60th anniversary of motor racing at the Goodwood circuit and the tenth anniversary of the Revival itself.

From 19-21 September 2008, the West Sussex circuit will once again play host to the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, one of the most memorable events in Goodwood’s history. The race is a 90-minute test of endurance, lasting until dusk on the evening of Saturday 20 September 2008 – featuring cars that ran in the original Goodwood Nine-Hour Event, such as the Aston Martin DB3S, Jaguar C-Type and Ferrari 750 Monza.

This is only the second time the 90-minute race has been held at the Revival, after the 50-year anniversary of the Nine-Hour race in 2002. The first Nine-Hour International sports car race at Goodwood ran in 1952, beginning at 3pm and running through to midnight; spectators got to see cars racing with the sun above and behind them, and then racing into the night.

Goodwood Revival 2008: the big names return

It’s not just the cars that are worth looking out for, however. Le Mans 24 Hour winner Derek Bell, F1 champion Jochen Mass and Sir Stirling Moss are some of the regulars who will attend the Revival this year. It's 60 years since Moss posted his very first victory at Goodwood.

Goodwood Revival founder Lord March said: 'I am really excited by the prospect of staging this race again, which will bring the concept of the Nine-Hour race back to life in a most dramatic fashion. The cars will look magnificent, racing against the backdrop of an autumnal West Sussex sunset.'

And the other races

Along with the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, 11 other races will be run at the 2008 Goodwood Revival, featuring GT cars, saloons, single-seater racing cars, and even motorcycles from 1948 through to 1966.

Nice one Revit 10
Will have to keep an eye out for race dates.
Does that mean Gerry Marshal's Vauxhalls are still out there somewhere?

You can`t beat 'steer from the rear' for fun ! rally driver

I`ve promised myself that some day I will get my finger out and go to either the Goodwood Revival, or Festival of speed.
I just haven`t gotten around to it yet.

I haven't been to the Revival, but attended the Festival of Speed twice. Awesome event, a mixture of new and historic cars, highly recommended.

It's a great weekend out, walk arounf to St Mary's and 'the corner with no name', there will be very few people around there but the action is good. I remember seeing Wizzo Williams throwing a Mini into the corners drifting it from about 75mtrs before the turn. He put the Mini on the front row, between a Ford Galaxy and Falcon.

PostSubject: Modsports and Special Saloons lets see these Historic Race Cars back.   Fri Oct 10, 2008 1:38 am

I want to see these fabulous Historic Race Cars such as the Modsports and Special Saloons race again, cars like Gerry Marshalls Vauxhalls,Modsport Caterhams,Elans,Modsport Turner Sports Cars,Jags,Astons,Elvas,Imps,Zakspeed Capris and wild Escorts.

There seems to be only one club who is trying hard to revive them from under the dustsheets and that is the HMSA Historic Modsports and Saloon Association,

What memories, photos have you got of these awesome race cars that competed in the 1960s,70s and 80s.

Be Great to see them on the forum. Very Happy
