On Eurosport Tv  they said  the trees that were next to the amco, so at that point of impact there was no give in the amco.

Is it 5 metres, I thought it was at least 10. I know it's 10 for the bike 24 hour.

See how close the tree is to the new piece of barrier. The barrier had no where to move to SadSad

The barrier and the tree looks terrible. Ouch.

It was concerning at how the chassis appeared to be twisted. Whilst production-based cars are more affordable, they cannot withstand the impacts that the carbon-fibre prototypes can.

I still think that upgrades to barriers are needed. The traditional Armco barrier has been in existence for many decades. I like the concept of the tech pro or SAFER barrier, where the severity of the impact is significantly reduced.

Clearly in this situation, the tree appears to be the culprit, but as cars have got stronger, run-off areas have improved – there hasn’t been much progress with barriers on road courses. I cannot help but feel there is a better solution than a steel guardrail.

You all know how I probably feel about what happened.  I have seen too much death in the past couple of years.

As long as someone does, although there always radio Le Mans. I might go and download Le Mans 2006 before the with drawl kicks in badly.

I just hope there's a better commentary team next year. Cole, kirby and in particular Halliday were awful.

That sounds good, all they need to do now is to cover  scrutineering  , it was better this year with only the 2 channel changers for the 24 mins program.

Sadly Aston Martin got screwed by the final safety car and (I backed porsche to win (91 not 92)) I wanted Aston to win like everyone else.

But Porsche won and by the look of that video they won with a lot of dignity.

Martin Haven gets more irritating and cocky broadcast-by-broadcast. It increasingly feels like he tries to create arguments for arguments sake. It doesn't sound great on TV.

Ben Edwards and Dave Addison are the best "lead" commentators at the moment for me. Both commentators can commentate on any motorsport and do it passionately, professionally, respectfully and knowledgeably.

I don't mind Mark Cole, he is bland but he is very knowledgeable. He perhaps doesn't convey his experience very well.

Carlton Kirby - total disaster

Liz Halliday - total disaster

Damien Faulkner - he was excellent in the booth over last weekend.

Mark cold talks a lot of know sense and stuff he makes up.
Faulkner was very good.
As was jeremy shaw but I would say that.
I didn't particularly notice Haven being argumentative but ...

Did put a bit of a damper on proceedings trackside. Not exactly the sort of thing you want to experience for your first Le Mans 24hrs. All condolences to Simonsen's family and friends.

I'll try to get a small breakdown of the weekend from my perspective and some photos up in the near future once I've had a look at them... All 650+ of them. Rolling Eyes
