The Delta Wing is an utterly pointless creation that has no serious future in motor racing. It’s eye-catching but useless. It is supposedly an ‘experimental’ car, what exactly are they experimenting for?

The Delta Wing is like annoying internet spam and needs to be ditched.

I hope that Ryan Briscoe does well this weekend; he could apparently be driving for Level 5 full time if they run the whole season. Along with a possible run at the Indianapolis 500 – it would be a nice way to complete the year.

A 300 bhp, 500 kg class in which the deltawing should be could be very interesting but they are getting side tracked with it. Sadly for you sav the deltawing is going to be a big part of the "united sportscar racing" combined series. Yes that's its name (rumoured at the moment but likely confirmed).

Indeed, I saw that the Delta Wing will be eligible to race in the United series next year. That will just be a mess, I love the idea of ALMS/Grand-Am combining – that that’s one addition I don’t like.

Because the Delta Wing is so unique, it is hard to put it in a category with other cars, apart from identical Delta Wings. I don’t think wacky concepts like this work well in motor racing. Competition and racing is the heart of motor racing, and the Delta Wing doesn’t fit in with that ethos.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race. I think we’ll get a lot of Caution’s to really spice up the show.

Endurance racing has always been about wacky concepts though. That's why else mans nose has garage 56 to those concepts back.

le mans has nothing to do with racing only finishing once thats achieved then other raving is considered.

In the past I've wrongly called f1 boring because of a lack of racing. I don't find 22 identical cars very interesting and other.

Btcc is about racing
Single seaters are about sport I suppose
Endurance racing is about finishing.

But has it? Concepts as bizarre and irrelevant as the Delta Wing? A bit like extreme concept cars as production cars, I tire of seeing cars which have no future in their respective fields. This has no serious future in motor racing, apart from acting as an eye-catcher, and concept production cars are wearisome for the same reason.

Specifically, the narrow width of the Delta Wing means it will always be at a handicap.

I don’t agree that endurance racing is merely about finishing, it stopped becoming about finishing a long time ago. Even at Le Mans, drivers are racing hard and battling for position. At Sebring you’d be hard pressed to tell it’s an ‘endurance’ race, the tyres, reliability etc allows drivers to sprint race from start to finish.

When that superb GT2 battle to the line happened in 2007, I don’t think they were thinking about finishing – they were thinking about wheel-to-wheel racing! The Daytona 24 Hours is another endurance race that is a sprint from start-to-finish.

This myth of endurance racing not being about close racing isn’t true anymore. The quality, closeness of racing is very impressive in a lot of endurance races.

Daytona is different as are nurburgring, britcar and other 24 hour races.

Le Mans is still just about being there at the end unless your one of the top 2 or 3 teams or a factory team.

The deltawing is narrow at the front and popular opion said it couldn't go round corners it did. It then finished 4th or 5th overall at petit Le Mans although unclassified. There is going to be more concepts in sportscar racing coming. Nissan have committed to a new one ever couple of years.

Unless your audi or Toyota your not winning Le Mans this year yet rebellion and strakka carry on anyway.

The pace of the race at La Sarthe is very impressive now, though.

I don’t think anybody said the Delta Wing wouldn’t be able to go around corners. However, its design is very flawed and a wider car would undoubtedly be more stable. IMO, innovations and ideas should be in the main prototypes.

After all, all endurance racing is still motor racing – not glorified, eye-catching test sessions. Unless a Delta Wing can race for points in a real class, it is pointless. The Delta Wing looks wacky and silly for the sake of it. I don’t see how this will influence future race cars.

Indeed, there has been little to separate the Risi Ferrari, Corvette, BMW and SRT Viper. I’m very impressed at this new GTE BMW Z4, already as a new car its so fast.

All these penalties for the 55 and 56 cars aren’t necessary, the officials should be favouring these cars – that’s their job. If I was an official, I’d just ban every GTE car apart from the 55 and 56 cars.

We are currently under Caution – this is a great moment. The restart will be dicey.

Richard Westbrook said that the officials were 'killing the racing'. Well I'm not sure about killing the racing, but these penalties are very excessive. Blimey, aren't you allowed to make a mistake anymore?

The officials should be encouraging mistakes so we get more Caution's.

penalties are harsh. muscle milk one when 52 brakes early was harsh for 60 seconds.

viper is shock to me. doing well

need to bit more relaxed.

The Viper sounds amazing on the on-board footage, it sounds peculiar for a V10 – V10’s usually shriek and howl. This sounds like a lower-revving V10.

I love the idea of the production Viper – 8.4 litre petrol V10. You’ve got to please Greenpeace as much as possible.

The deltawing is running as an lmp1. Was.

I haven't seen a penalty yet that I would disagree with in this race or grand am at Cota for that matter.

Mc nish got one.
Klaus got 2
Westy got one
Level 5 got one
Rebellion got 2 I think.

It was decent race will miss alms 12hours of Sebring.

Do like the new Z4 liveries were so good.

I wonder how Audi will be like against Toyota in WEC

Maybe the second klaus Graf penalty was a little harsh ( the contact with one of the esm hpd's) but hitting a lower class car means he was always going to get that penalty.

Consistency is everything and they stuck to it everyone knows where they stand going in.

The majority of the teams doing sports car racing run on very small budgets so harsher penalties are a good idea.
