No dp's and no gt3's and Le Mans have more entries that there is room for.

71 Entries Posted For 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours

A press release from the ACO today reveals that a total of 71 entries have been received for the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours, the total equalling the number of entries in 2012 and recovering to that level after a much lower total last year.

The release also makes it clear that all 71 entries are potentially of the required quality to take to the grid proper though only 55 slots are available (plus the Green GT entry in the Garage 56 slot).

30 entries have been received in GTE (Pro and Am) with 41 entries across the LMP1 and LMP2 classes.

16 cars are already guaranteed an entry through their various successe3s in the 2012 season of course but even a conservative assessment of the potential LMP2 entries indicates that there are some surprises to come there, 28 different LMP2 cars raced at least once somewhere in the world in 2012 and that total seems to indicate that t there is potential for the total to increase this season.

The Selection Committee met on the evening of 23 January under the presidency of Pierre Fillon, the ACO President, to draw up the list of teams invited plus 10 reserves. Their decisions will be announced in Paris on 1 February.

Yes, Le Mans is a round of the wec and as long as it they will have an automatic entry if accepted to wec

I'm expecting 30 to 35

The only confirmed entry is the H2 Green GT car.

It is amazing how over-subscribed Le Mans is - its great to see. I'm not surprised that DP's aren't on the entry list, that change was never going to happen immediately. I suspect that DP's might be altered for 2014, that might be the year or after that.

I agree with you, right now there doesn't appear to be any room. However in the future when it more feasible, I'd take some DP's over additional ACO-based entries. I think it would be more interesting.

I think the ACO organisers deserve full praise for having 3 Safety Cars during Safety Car periods, ideally there should be about 10 pace cars - but more than 1 is essential - it spices up the show.
