lmp2 should be more popular than Dp's

Why?


Ask Peter Barron, Last year he said it was cheaper to run an lmp2 spec hpd in the WEC than to run Grand AM


But...


Dp's are based on any chassis from Day 1 to yesterdays just with different bodies. Some Dp Corvettes are Rileys and so are other...


And...


The ACO keep changin P2 runs. P2 rules were new for 2011 and those runs only start in 2009 and they'll change again in 2015 or 2016. I can't remember which.

LMP2 should be more popular in usa there is lot of cars in europe and WEC but USA not so much but there seem to more DP's

they need to stop messing with rules, i know they didnt want Lmp2 racing with lmp1 but i mean. i know 08 was special year but only really 3 entries in 2012....

Is there a link to this?

Even if an LMP2 car is cheaper to run than a DP, any potential cost advantage is negated because Grand-Am rules stay relatively stable, so a team doesn't have to keep on investing in new machinery. There might be updates at most.

This weekend, the racing in DP has vindicated the fact that DP's will be the top prototype class in America next year. If they can replicate this kind of racing, only with more drivers and cars - 2014 should be amazing.

Starworks wouldn't have done wec if it wasn't the case.

And your right its the lack of stability that's killing aco prototypes in america.

Darren Cox of Nissan UK was on Midweek Motorsport last night. He said Nissan would try and get at least one Nissan powered P2 is the new series next year
