Stunning…except for the scaffolding on the engine cover.

Clearly, aesthetics don’t matter a jot when race cars are designed, but LMP1 cars have become tremendously ugly, especially the Audi. I cannot stand the bulkiness of the wheel arches, and the front end just looks like an open wheel clone, except it doesn’t match the shape of the car. There’s nothing wrong with the latter, but these are supposed to be sports cars.

The Toyota doesn’t look so bad, its more svelte headlines disguise the bulky look to an extent.

On the Competizione, the wheel arches are almost level with the rest of the bodywork – it looks coherent.

The Audi looks pretty bulky at the front and isn't nice to look at.

The Toyota is better.

To be honest an f1 tub an sportscar tub are very similar. The sportscar tub will be wider.

It’s always been that way, tbh. This is the reason I baulk at the idea of prototypes being called “sports cars”, they’re construction is near identical to single seaters underneath, it’s just the external bodywork makes them look different.

they are suppose to be able to carry a second person. They can't but thats supposedly what makes them sportscars.

I find that a bit lame, tbh, add another seat and that suddenly makes it a sports car. A sports car is a Ferrari 458, Porsche 997, Corvette. I think people should stop pretending to call them sports cars, and pretend like they’re widely different to single seaters.
