Chevrolet is to leave WTCC at the end of 2012: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/100908

Competing against yourself must get wearisome at some stage, and that stage has come for Chevrolet.

WTCC is possibly the snooziest lump of crap on the universe. Four cylinder hairdryers? Give me a break. These are WORLD Touring Cars, and they need serious engines. We need loud V6’s or V8’s, none of this four cylinder nonsense. Road relevance should stay on the road.

WTCC’s whole ethos has effectively collapsed. When the series returned, they were banking on multiple car makers joining. That happened in the first few years, but as the equalisation solutions got more ridiculous, they got bored and left.

The races are absurdly short, sometimes it feels like they barley last 20 minutes, then it’s over. WTCC doesn't have enough entries to warrant rolling starts, on road courses standing are starts incredibly exciting.

DTM is mostly snoozy, but they’ve got three committed manufacturers and appear to be happy. I respect DTM because they use big, loud V8’s. Even if the racing is snoozy, you can listen to those glorious engines.

Rallying in my opinion is also wrong to only have four cylinder engines. What about the five cylinder Quattro, V6 Stratos? Those sounded like real engines. Rallying is now just filled with shopping trolley's, and is worse for it.

end of WTCC as we know it.

haven't watch it for few years. races to short boring cars

DTM just need a few tweaks......how ever engine noise is good

There was something on radio le mans about Rallying and that its not interesting with cars they have now. they need cars as you mention sav.

WTCC could source a load of General Motors V8’s and put them in a one-make car. I don’t usually approve of one-make cars, but it works terrifically for Euro Series. They produce delightful action and sound lovely. Cost effective and effective entertainment.

Honda is supposedly running selected rounds of WTCC, but I wonder if they are prepared to race against no direct competition. According to the WTCC boss, he’s always got potential manufacturers who are interested. If that ever turns into reality…

Any World-status car needs to sound intoxicating and have lots of power, WTCC cars are no better than what you find in National series.
Trophy Andros cars have V6 Cilo’s and Kia’s, WRC needs those kinds of motors.

They apparently tried to get GM to fund the project to keep it going. Failed obviously. zero
