the series arrives at the fastest track on the calender. The teams often push the envelope on tyres, so expect to see a few punctures.
Thorney Motorsport arent making the trip due to the problems with the Insignia.
Plato will likely have his bulldozer scoop on again, should any competitors fail to move over for him...We're about due a BTCC cliche involving Plato and Neal.
Will be cheering on Max Coates in the Ginetta G50 if the races are shown on tv, 3 wins last time out, need a few more to catch up with Rob Gaffney and Mark Davies in the championship

I sincerely hope that the Neal/Shedden v Plato feud is reignited, that’s when BTCC is at its best – drivers who despise one another putting the bumper to each other.

I still remember Nigel Mansell v Antony Reid at Donington, that bumper car shenanigan was hilarious.

BTCC has what WTCC needs: flared tempers, dirty and aggressive driving. Put on a show for the fans, ruffle some feathers – get them talking.

Actually the only way wtcc would work is if it was NASCAR, v8 supercars, v8 superstars, dtm and btcc all in together.

It sure is dull; I’d be fascinated to know Eurosport’s viewing figures.

Plato wrecked his MG in qualifying but still starts on the front row, both Dynamics Honda Civic’s start near the tail of the field. Full qualifying results here: http://www.btcc.net/html/raceresults_detail.php?race_id=97&season_id=55

rain all day tomorrow could mean quali means nothing though, it's also likely to mean Safety Cars so those at the back can be closer to those at the front every time, just like Mr Gow likes.
Good quali from Frank Wrathall, and all 3 Motorbase cars, especially Liam Griffin. Shame for Rob Austin, who sadly may not be racing tomorrow cos of the damage.

Despite the discrepancies in straight line speed between cars, the overall picture looks more balanced. The MG and Dynamics Honda look well matched imo.

Racing at Thruxton in the wet must be very daunting, especially in a RWD car. One can imagine the rear stepping out at Church all of a sudden…

Thruxton isn't my favourite track and this year proves it. Even in rain it's not the best entertainment.

There is some truth to that, Thruxton’s wide open sections spreads the field out. Surviving seems more important, rather than trying to push for position.

Hopefully race 3 will be drier or fully dry, would be good to see them pushing to the limit.

Thruxton isn't my favourite either, plus it's the second furtherest away from home, so watching from the comfort of the sofa, no fun being trackside in the rain like has been today.
Reverse grid R3 should be interesting Shedden and Plato have to fight their way through, track looks pretty dry for Porsches so slicks for R3 i'd have said.

I was just going to say, there seems to be no standing water in the Porsche race and some sections look close to being dry. Lets hope for a feistier race where the drivers can really push.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the BMW’s have been, I’d rather steer from the front in conditions like that. I suppose the traction they have off slow corners is decent.

Great job by Frank Wrathall fending off Plato in R3, although (like many people) i was expecting the Plato nudge on the last lap at the chicane.
The Dynamics Honda's ran away with the race, Shedden was on fire all day, especially after the quali problems. Shame for Tony Gilham to go off at the complex, he was trying to keep the lead though.
A long wait til Oulton Park though.

No BTCC until June sucks, the calender is not very well spread out. Sad

No it's not, i know they've split the season in 2 for the last few years and want to avoid the Olympics this year, but could have had Donington a week later and left Thruxton til sometime in May. Croft is the week before Goodwood FoS so not really on for me as i'm off to the Festival on the Wednesday. Season finishes late this year as well, 23rd Oct at Brands so well drawn out.
