Season kicks off this weekend, quali live on itv.com at about 3.15pm and race coverage from 11am tomorrow.

No Paul O'Neill to cheer on this year, so will be supporting Frank Wrathall and Lea Wood. MG livery is horrible, kinda vomit comet if it actually goes very fast!

Remember Di Restaís 2007 liveryÖ

Iím really looking forward to some close racing at Brands Hatch. I think the Indy course suits BTCC better than the GP course. BTCC is about beating and banging fenders and bumpers, and the short Indy circuit is ideal for that.

Hoping that Plato can get a reasonable start to the season, and hoping that WSR can be competitive with the turbocharged BMWís.

great start for Dave Newsham with a pole position. Chris James needs banning for the rest of the meeting for his blatant blocking of Andrew Jordan, sending him to the back of the grid isnt enough of a punishment. Good job by Plato to get in the top 10 (not that i'm a fan of his, he just drove well)

Hmm, the front row better watch out for Collard in that BMW.

Harvey has a new co-commentator.

Not too sure about him!

Poor Morgan, a bit of a biggy.

but the rules need changing on SC. Should have been brought out after corner one and no racing til line, as sheddon hit jordan.

I completely agree, Iíve never understood this theory of racing back to the line. Either there is a danger or there isnít one. All it does is encourage people to be boneheads and make ill-judged moves, creating more mess.

Great win for Collard, nice to see BMW 1 and 3. It looks to handle really well once it gets sufficient tyre temperature, itíll prevail even better in hot, slick conditions.

Newsham drove really well to get alongside Neal there. However, he made a mistake by blocking Collard so excessively at Druids. Collard has a nose alongside Newshamís rear bumper, but Newsham just crowded Collard as the corner got closer. Being in denial never does much good.

Platoís skirmish into Newsham looked different when on-board with the MG. Plato slowed the car down pretty well entering the corner; itís just that Paddock Hill is a very line-specific corner. It cannot really be taken at such a tight angle. That was definitely Platoís fault, but I respect him for trying to seize that opportunity.

That was an outstanding first race; we had bumping, banging and safety car periods. You couldnít ask for more.

IMO, the officials are trying to become superstars with all these penalties.

Take a chill pill from Monza!

Great move by Jordan on Plato, nice and clean, unlike a certain Mr Plato. Glad to see Nick Foster is ok, car doesn't look too bad either. Plato seemed to be putting all 4 wheels off at Graham Hill rather frequently, but no penalty, indemnity from Alan Gow?

Another great race, I would have liked to see how Foster got upside down. It was interesting to see how flat the underbody was.

That dual between Neal and Plato was utterly superb, thereís nothing like an old rivalry being renewed. I donít like Neal, but that was good hard racing from both. They both use that tactic of just making slight contact out of Clearways, knocking their opponent out of the groove.

ThE MG is pretty impressive for a car that is so new, it looks a bit unstable in high speed corners, but impressive nevertheless.

Massive crash in Ginetta, always worry about pit straight and that bit of wall. Hopefully all are ok.

Iím glad no one was injured in that mess at Druids. I have mixed feelings about that removal of gravel at the corner, it does lessen mess, but it also provides less friction for cars out of control.

Jason Plato drove a beautiful final race; he really is a superb driver. Plato stalked Jordan for a while, before seizing the ideal opportunity to pass him. The MG is a great handling car, Plato may moan about it in public, but it had excellent drive off the corner, he would close in on Jordan exiting the corners nicely.

On a general note, BTCC produced a great dayís of racing. BTCC may be the most exciting motor racing that exists; the NGTC era looks to be a bright one.

Plato's performance will certainly help shift a few of the road cars I reckon.

Great days racing, Let's hope for more of the same.

I have always wondered in this day and age why the gravel trap hasn't been removed from paddock hill bend. I haven't been to Brands is there no way they can push the barrier back and pull the gravel pit back and extend the run off area so if a car is pushed wide it will still be on the circuit.

On another note, Got to to say Toby Moody and Tim work really well. I was a bit worried with Toby due to him doing bikes normally but I feel we have the old Toby back, I think Moto GP has been pretty poor the last 4 seasons or so we haven't seen the best of him for a while.

Apart from the good old 125cc before 2009 era and moto2/250cc

Toby Moody did really well, in fact if you didn't know he was new you'd never have guessed it was his first BTCC commentary.

As for Brands, there's not a lot of room to extend the run off at Paddock, they'd end up taking the spectator area there, have a look on Google Earth or something similar.

You coming to Donington Steven?

I also thought Toby Moody adapted really well, he did make some strange observations at times, but as a newcomer he was pretty clued up.

The motoring media has given MGís new offerings fairly bad reviews, the cars do seem to be behind more established competitors, but I think the brand has potential in the UK. Once the products improve, they can properly compete with Ford, GM, Kia etc. MG has always had a sporty image that some others donít have.
