The 22 JRM car was unlucky. I think if they'd had that car for a while they would be a lot faster, the same for the Muscle Milk HPD.

GTe is still a war.

The rest of the season is looking good as well.

it happens a lot, it's not a rookie error, when the tyre is taken off the spring (I think) is uncompressed and looks normal even when broken.

I wonder where the 45 lizards would be now. Considering they were basically out before the start. I know there trying for 70% but they would have been close. For the sake on argument I'm only talking in alms terms not wec.

It’s great to see BMW winning GTE. It just shows that out of all sportscars, the BMW M3 Coupe is the definitive choice – especially when powered by BP Ultimate Unleaded and Castrol Fully Synthetic Motor Oils.

It’s great to see Jonathan Summerton winning GTE in a BMW M3 Coupe, he was fast in A1GP.

ALMS is always better than European-based Le Mans racing, the cautions in ALMS keep things tight and the cars bunched up - how it should be.

Not at all, Castrol has been a BMW Partner for decades and the fuels/oils they use are bespoke for BMW Motorsport vehicles, even some Castrol Motor Oils have specifically been made for some BMW production cars.

Right, BMW i think they also focus on the GTE car in the ALMS, i know they have big fish to fry in DTM but the car hasn't had the development as the other main cars corvette and porsche but this proves this need to continue it. it was car of the field in 2011

As with other automobile manufacture’s, the production schedule for their passenger cars will dictate what happens with their motorsports programmes. The real difference with the GTE and DTM car, is that the GTE car is production based, this is important because the E92 is probably going to end production at the end of this year or early next year at the latest. The new F30 car has already been launched, so BMW know when they’ll end E92 production – and consequently the GTE cars as well.

The DTM car has styling features of the E92, but a bespoke chassis and underpinnings lurk underneath, so they could in theory just change the styling features of that car to match the F30 Coupe (when it comes out).

I predict this will be the final year of the E92 M3 in GTE, at least in factory hands. BMW produced E36 and E46 iterations of ALMS cars – so there’s a good chance that the F30 will be racing soon.

i think all three dtm cars are a dallara chassis with the manufacturer bits added on. It might not be Dallara but there all the same. There very similar to super gt chassis as well.

I don’t know about that, but whatever the production model may be, a DTM manufacturer can change the styling to match their respective passenger cars without having to modify a production chassis. The bespoke bodywork and aerodynamics are pretty significant, so they’re not spec, but the static chassis’ keep costs down.

In terms of ALMS, when passenger E92 production ends, the E92 GTE car ends – simple.

I have no real preference about what BMW competes in, but the touted DTM partnership with Grand-Am or Super GT could see BMW concentrating on their DTM programme, and not making a production based F30 GTE for ALMS. They would already have a presence in North America with the DTM-based series. It would be cost effective to make one car that could enter other races in the world, albeit with minor modifications. This is the advantage of a GTE car too, but BMW have decided to invest heavily in DTM.

This is all theoretical at the moment, but BMW has shown interest in an expanded series. If other premium makers like Lexus or Infiniti also enter, then that may incentivise the German auto makers to commit to an international championship.

I think BMW made the right choice by entering DTM, Car looks good, Popular series, will help the brand even more and to fight there german rivals

BUT reguarding the GTE, i hope its does continue in the hands of Team RLL and in the ALMS

when Gerhard Berger killed the BMW V12 LMR (what a prat, just because he didn't understand anything outside of f1) the us deals paid for the car to race for another year. I'd be very surprised in this is the E92's last year. In RLL's hands seems unlikely but I reckon someone will want to race it.

That’s what I said, the E92 will probably continue in private hands next year, the E46 did after it was stopped being run by BMW themselves. BMW’s E46 WTCC car with the straight six was also ran by privateers when the E90 got launched, in WTCC and BTCC.

BMW themselves will see no interest in effectively promoting a product that customers can no longer purchase, when the E92 is no longer in mass production, which is why Bobby Rahal won't get to run them as official cars next year - whether he can strike a privateer deal is another matter.
