Good to see that there might be two Vauxhall Insignias on the grid this year. I like how its called the VXR-R the passenger VXR has a 2.8 V6 wish the race car had six cylinders too.

One has to fancy Plato contending for wins at some point, Triple Eight will ensure that car is competitive. I think WSR is going to surprise this year, the old NA engine was always its handicap as other NA engines developed further, then turbo engines came. A turbo engine with that 3-Series chassis could be a potent combo.

me too, I do wish touring car rules were more open and simply. You could limit them to about 300 horse and and not much downforce and leave everything else open...

sadly no Paul O'Neill or Techspeed so far, although i've read that Paul is about 35k short for the season, and rumours that Techspeed have put the TOCA Swindon engine in the Cruzes, so not impossible that they will show up at some point. Who will i support otherwise???
Frank Wrathall i guess....
STR have 2 SEAT's available and Geoff Steel have their BMW without a driver either, still no one has any money, running your own team seems to be the way to take part now....
It will take time for MG to find their feet, the car isn't ready and no testing, so unless some flukey result comes Plato's way i reckon a couple of races before 888 get the car sorted. I the meantime he can bang wheels with Chris James!

well expensive, estimated to be about 300k for a full season at a top team like RML or 888

Straight sixs and V6s are not exactly outrageous, they should be allowed if teams want to even if they arent more powerful they would sound nicer.

guess a lot of it is the cars themselves, S2000 became very expensive to design and build, and NGTC isn't supposed to be working out any cheaper, although it was meant to be. Lots of contact and damage in BTCC will put bills up, bumpers are a couple hundred quid each and you need new ones pretty much each race, so get through about 6-8 in a weekend. All adds up.

I was just going to say, if anything the nature of BTCC racing makes it expensive. All that door slamming, fender crunching and bumper banging must be very costly for those teams who race to strict budget's. Its great for the fans - maybe not so great for the teams!

I wish there were V6's or straight six's in BTCC, now that the engines have little to do with the automobile makers, it could be done. Its not the case of an S2000 car where if a passenger car has four cylinders, then the touring car will also have that.

I'd make them rev until 12,000 rpm like the new IndyCar V6 powerplants.

The 155 DTM car is on Gran Turismo 5, it revs and sounds like an F1 engine. It's strangely nice to have such a highly strung motor in a touring car.

lol! I wish, but the 156 is just as good and sounds awsome with its optional extra sports back box and straight through pipes right to it (as made by us)
