it's got power going to all four wheels, i knew that was possible. But I though they couldn't use they at the same time. Obviously not...

The FIA closed the loop hole of teams running electric systems to power the front wheels for future F1 regs.

I think if it was 4WD all the time, then maybe something would have been said.

same link as before but...

Quote :
So few weeks ago Murphy the Bear Tweeted that he had heard that the Deltawing project would use a Nissan engine for testing purposes until the engine partner was decided upon. This tidbit quickly morphed to the Nissan LMP2 V8 being that "interim" engine. The Deltawing project has always advocated a small capacity (1.6L), inline 4-cylinder, turbo being the engine of choice. So to use a V8 in the place where you wanted a I4 to eventually go didn't pass the sniff test. And even though Murphy wasn't responsible for the V8 part, he was correct about engine partners. Today Nissan sent this not too particularly subtle press conference invite out (sadly, ours has apparently been lost in the mail): "Until Tuesday, we cannot reveal any details except that this is a truly ground-breaking, innovative motorsport project that is different to anything that has ever raced before, and has the potential to revolutionise both motorsport and future road car products."

Now, who do YOU think the engine partner is going to be?

is new, what does it refer?

it's a bit strange, they were looking for a 1.4 turbo or a 1.6 turbo so switching to a 3.4 litre (I think it's 3.4) v8 would seem a little odd...

the latest rumour is, and it gets weirder. The engine is to be branded as a Nissan but it'll be the 1.6 turbo RML build for the WTCC Chevrolet program rebranded.

Dyson Withdraws From Le Mans
Status And Murphy Join The LMP2 Ranks

The ACO has released an updated entry list for the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, which shows that Dyson Racing has withdrawn both of its LMP1 Lola-Judds from the race after the team apparently hit problems in finding the necessary budget for the project (although the statement in the official ACO release that “the American team Dyson Racing has thrown in the towel,” seems unnecessarily derisive).

But Dyson’s misfortune means that the first two cars on the LMP reserve lists have now been accepted; these being the Status Grand Prix Lola-Judd and the Murphy Prototypes Oreca 03-Nissan (although it is listed as a Judd on the official entry list, curiously). This means that the LMP1 ranks drop to 13, while the LMP2 numbers swell to 20.

Just three cars now remain on the reserve list – the #32 LMP2 Lotus Lola B12/80, the #76 GTE-Pro IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche and the #63 GTE-Am Proton Competition Porsche.

The revised entry now looks like this:

How many times does Vickers plan on crashing or running into others? Should be a laugh though. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/99282

Only 1 of the Audi's will finish (no idea which)
but it will win the race
Toyota will be fast but will have problems but even after that one of the two cars will finish on the podium

Honda Back In 2013?
Official Entries Likely

In the face of the Nissan onslaught at Le Mans – where 13 LMP2 entries and the DeltaWing will be powered by the Japanese manufacturer - and Toyota's return, Honda has signalled a possible return to sportscar racing as a factory in 2013, writes Mark Cole.

Speaking at a press visit to Honda’s Swindon plant – where the Japanese car-builder produces Civics, CR-Vs and Jazz models, as well as VTEC engines, for 60 countries – Paul Ormond, general manager of corporate affairs for Honda UK said that the company was looking at potential teams to run "as official Honda entries in 2013". Like all Japanese manufacturers, car production was hit hard by last year's tsunami, but Swindon is now back to two-shift working and building more cars than ever before.

Until 2010, when Strakka won LMP2 with its HPD ARX.01, Honda had not been to La Sarthe since the mid-1990s, when Kremer, Honda and Team Kunimitsu all ran NSXs. The Kremer brothers fielded three Thomson-built NSX entries with factory drivers in 1994, finishing 14th, 16th and 18th. In 1995, Honda Motor Co itself entered two Thomson GT1 cars, only one of which finished (a non-classified 23rd), beaten by the GT2 winning Yokohama-built GT2 NSX of Kunimitsu Takahashi in 8th place overall. Takahashi brought his team back once more in 1996, finishing 3rd in GT2 and 16th overall, but that was the end of the dream, and Honda thereafter concentrated on Super GT, while its American arm Honda Performance Development has run with considerable success in the ALMS, and continues to do so in 2012.

Current Le Mans LMP1 runners Strakka and JRM, and LMP2 squads Starworks and Level 5 are all obvious candidates for a 2013 factory programme, but any decision would likely depend on their Le Mans 24 Hours and WEC results, and on which category Honda would prefer to concentrate.

I think Le Mans especially in LMP1 will become properly interesting when Audi, Porsche and Toyota dual it out – if that trio meet on-track…

Honda need to do something, they’ve really gone backwards in terms of four-wheeled products, and market share in Europe. Maybe Le Mans can show people they don't just cater for Jazz and CRV OAP owners.

Even better; they need to launch that NSX rather than releasing concepts.

Le Mans 24 Hours - Entry List Notes

There are no major surprises yet on the Le Mans 24 Hours entry list.

There is, of course, the remaining seat in the #8 Toyota but we expect Stephane Sarrazin to be named in that slot before the Test Day.

The Pescarolo Team’s pair of cars are both on the list with unchanged driver squads – This despite concerns over the new 03, now backed by Roald Goethe.

It’s been a tricky run up to Le Mans too for the Dome S102.5 with a test accident last week at high speed leaving the car damaged but thankfully repairable with the tub unscathed.

LMP2 has a couple of names confirmed with Haruki Kurosawa in at Jota and the planned Spa trio of Sims, Buurman and Lanetta confirmed at Status GP.

Murphy Prototypes too confirm their Spa trio for Le Mans too so Brendon Hartley gets the nod alongside ELMS season pair Jody Firth and Warren Hughes.

The #29 Gulf Racing Middle East sees Steve Quick listed in place of Frederic Fatien though the team are understood to be testing other drivers too at the Test Day.

Finally, if we assume that Sarrazin is moving to Toyota then Starworks are set to have a seat available in their LMP2 HPD – DSC knows who was second choice to the Frenchman at the start of the season and we know they’re still available for the 24 Hours. The driver concerned will be checking his phone is switched on around every 2-3 minutes just now.

In GTE the Luxury Racing team have liberated their Ferraris from the clutches of a Belgian bailiff and Dominik Farnbacher joins the Pro car for the big one.

Toni Vilander and Marco Cioci do likewise in the #51 and #71 AF Corse Pro cars too.

In Porsche land Marco Holzer joins season stalwarts Jorg Bergmeister and Pat Long at Flying Lizards.

JMW meanwhile have confirmed both James Walker and Jonny Cocker for Le Mans together with Kiwi Roger Wills in the aggressively liveried, Dunlop backed and shod, Ferrari 458.

In GTE-Am Sean Edwards and Matt Griffin will both be delighted with their first opportunities to race at Le Mans with Prospeed and the #81 AF Corse Ferrari respectively.

JMB meanwhile name their trio for the first time with Alain Ferte joining Manuel Rodrigues and Philippe Illiano in the Paul Ricard based Ferrari.
