ok a thread is a race late and turkey was actually very good.

Barcelona wasn't as good, but was still better racing than f1. But the stand out moment of the whole event was the Si unit for junior single seater series's overtake (Romain Grosjean), who managaed to overtake 3 cars in one move around the outside. Stunning.

Barcelona is generally a dull circuit to start off with but the GP2 races weren't too bad considering - at least the series is giving Bernd Maylander something to do over the weekend with their incidents.

Agree on Romain's race 2, he was great - especially that move on the three cars in turns four and five I think it was - everyone else around him seemed to be running on about 0.5Grosjeans with the guy himself on at least 1.4Grosjeans.

Just seen the highlights for the GP2 qualifying session - plenty of madness going on there, it's not in English but still worth a laugh

If the race is going to be anything like this it's going to be mayhem

f1 could learn alot from gp2, 30 minutes and go get the best ime you can. seems like a good idea.

Van der Garde has lost his pole for crashing into Oliver Turvey, giving Sam Bird the best opportunity to win the feature race later today. Also losing times were Grosjean and Ericsson.

Race is on Eurosport sometime late tonight (2315?) according to what it said in Autosport.

Once again eurosport set a new (eurosport random ad break) standard of irritating an audience.

I've been meaning to ask, Ever time I heard his name I want to say, what's a Kevin chechong?

What they ended up showing was edited horrendously got about 10 mins from an hour race. Not expecting any better from the sprint race that i'm recording now.

arrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh

Eurosport what are you doing? I understand why you need to show it at 11 o'clock at night. Although would cutting away from the tennis really hurt. But then show it in full. Highlights don't need to be editied shorter aaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhhhh

This advert makes my blood boil, it is so hopelessly inaccurate and a lie. Euroshit don't even show the feature races live anymore, neither Monaco race was shown live - then they have the audacity to claim GP2 is "live all season long".

I've sent them a complaint about this, which they ignored, so I've complained to the ASA. Misleading, lying adverts like this shouldn't be shown.

rather too much tennis getting in the way. I suspect the next race will be live.

The Sprint Race will probably be shown live, but so far this year none of the Feature Races have been shown live - so I'm not hopeful.

Fantastic action the the Feature race yesterday, weather meant it started wet and dried out. Great battle between Bianchi and Vietoris for the lead.

I forgot to record the feature race, which was a shame as it sounded thrilling. Eurosport showing their commitment to motorsport by not bothering to show either GP2 race live. Rolling Eyes

It makes for a refreshing change, but both GP2 races from Spa are being shown live on Eurosport. The feature race is being shown at 14:40 pm tomorrow, with the sprint race shown on Sunday at 9:30 am - GP3 and Porsche Supercup live on Sunday morning as well.

Haven't seen a GP2 race in a while with no live coverage, looking forward to it. Christian Vietoris took the pole by a whopping 1.4 seconds over the second placed driver Fillippi: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/93967

Shame the safety car had to neuter so much of the race. Not sure what was happening with so many slow cars on track, is there a safe mode which the car defaults to rather than destroy the engine?
Still looks like Grosjean is champion after finishing 3rd with his rivals nowhere.

I was puzzled about that too, if I were the race director I would have ordered all those cars trundling around to park it and get off the track. Max Chilton drove past the pits going at about 5 mph - really clever thinking there. Rolling Eyes

When it really started to pour with rain, the amount of incidents just under Safety Car conditions was amazing. Loved the long safety car period, nothing like a last lap shootout.

Just Martin Haven ever shut up or stop interrupting Jonny Kahne? Rolling Eyes I'd rather hear Kahne's opinion of a race car driver than a broadcaster who knows s*** all - but just has a big gob.

Such an odd race, where the attrition and damage was mainly done behind the safety car, some very strange incidents Gonzalez hitting Van Der Garde on the kemmel straight - agreed there was a lot of spray around and that would severely hampered visibility but the speed difference was a little excessive those conditions should have been taken into consideration by the drivers.

Then there was Colleti flying over Aleshin - a scary looking incident which the cameras didn't really pick up - but the front of the car seemed to come down from a height. He has been hospitalised as a result on a precautionary note but suspecting back injuries.

The overall safety car period seemed to be a mess, with really slow cars having to be passed by the safety car and others stopping and then restarting, those behind were backing up working out whether to pass or not to pass the ailing cars which then stopped ailing and then re-passed those who decided to go by. There may end up being a lot of penalties come tomorrows race.

I've longed wondered why European racing officials fluff up Safety Car periods so badly when they are seamless in NASCAR and IndyCar.

That was a nasty accident at Eau Rouge for Leimer this morning, yikes. Side-by-side racing through Eau Rouge was superb to watch, it can all go so horribly wrong - which makes their driving even more impressive.
