from their email

GP2 ASIA SERIES

GP2 Asia is the winter version of the GP2 Series, which supports each European F1 Grands Prix, and includes many of the same teams and drivers.

GP2 really is the final step on the ladder to Formula 1 with a number of its drivers having distinguished themselves at the top level. They include, amongst others, Nico Rosberg, Heikki Kovalainen, Timo Glock and 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. The championship consists of three rounds, one in Abu Dhabi and two in Bahrain, the second of which will support the opening round of the F1 World Championship. Not to be missed!

Round 1, Abu Dhabi Saturday 5 March at 2.15pm.
Round 2, Bahrain Saturday 12 March at 2.15pm.
Round 3, Bahrain Saturday 19 March at 2.15pm.

Hardly worth getting a team together for that, is it?

I wouldn't call it "a season" by any stretch of the imagination.

Is that live coverage? I agree, its not really a season at all. With little motorsport in January and February, it would have been ideal to have some races in those months for a bigger calendar. But no, it starts in March when the attention turns to more major series like Formula One.

Mind you, I'm glad its being broadcasted.

I wonder what is the point of Motors TV coverage then? I'll stick with Eurosport's coverage. One to Sky +.

GP2 Asia always has brilliant racing, so it is worth watching.

Holy crap, that was the most bizarre opening lap in a GP2 race since Magny-Cours in 2007 with the I Sport drivers tangling and Viso's wild ride.

Razia's accident looked terrible, I thought the car was going to reach the grandstand fencing, thankfully it only went along the armco barrier. It must have been a huge impact to damage a relatively new barrier. Not sure what Razia was doing though, its almost as if he steered into the accident when everybody else managed to avoid it.

The Viso-style accident was weird, everybody was slowing down for the Safety Car period nicely, then a driver who's name I have forgotten drove into another car, sending him airborne.

Bianchi drove a peach of a race, just brilliant. Resisted Grosjean's pressure with no mistakes, it was Grosjean going sideways and being lairy, beat Grosjean in the pit cycle and thanks to conserving his tyres, managed to pull away from Grosjean at the end. Top drive. Those new Pirelli tyres fall away in lap time quickly don't they? Bodes well for F1.

Did Max Chilton suffer from brain fade at the end? Did he seriously think that the stewards won't penalise him for passing Coletti by ignoring the chicane? Cannot get more blatant cheating then that. Maybe he spends too much time on computer games...

Loved the Safety Car Period. Just when everything is crazy, you can rely on Mercedes. bravo
