PostSubject: NASCAR 2011   Fri Jan 21, 2011 8:37 am

NASCAR for 2011 is fast approaching, with the Budweiser Shootout set for 12th February, the Duals for February 17th and the actual Daytona 500 set for 20th February.

UK TV Coverage for NASCAR is still be announced, however, there is credible evidence to suggest that Sky Digital Channel Premier Sports (channel 433) will be showing the Cup Series. They had a Facebook advertising banner promoting the sport on Premier Sports, perhaps to build anticipation.

The bad news is that the channel costs 6.99 to subscribe per month. The good news is, we won't just be getting the Cup Series. They will be showing the lower division Nationwide and Truck Series races live. So for most weekends, that is three races per weekend - suddenly that seems like an okay deal.

I'll pay that whatever, otherwise there will be nothing to do on Sunday evening! Laughing

Just to update, Premier Sports (Sky digital channel 433) has officially announced it will be showing NASCAR Cup this season. Sign up on their website to view the channel in minutes with your viewing card, and, there is a promotion code to have the channel at just 2.99 for the first two months - 6.99 a month afterwards.

The channel may also show the Nationwide Series as well, which would make 6.99 an even better proposition.

Sky sports showing highlights of the bud shootout at the moment, I think shoot out length races evert third race would help NASCAR a lot.

The style of racing in the Shootout was weird and unnerving. I wouldn't want to be pushed at 206 mph all the way around the track. And, two car breakaways made the field too spread out.

I don't like restrictor plate racing much, but at least the advantage is that they usually all stay bunched up together. So you literally don't know the result until the chequered flag.

Restrictor plate racing is boring and always has been, nothing that interesting in watching cars wide open on the throttle for 100 % of a lap.

I like them for the massive accidents only.

Brilliant result for the Daytona 500. Trevor Bayne wins his first ever Daytona 500 in his first ever Daytona 500 lol.

It would be something you see in the movies. A 20 year kid racing in his first Daytona 500 and only his 2nd ever Nascar Sprint cup race. Plus racing for what is pretty much a Privateer team.

He throughly deserved that, He drove a great race and looks like a great talent. Kept his head all through the race and managed to avoid all the incidents.

This kid has a bright future.

What a brilliant race, really enjoyed that. Trevor Bayne has won a Cup race before winning a Nationwide race, which is incredible.

Montoya was the luckiest man in the race, he dodged some big accidents and the damage he got was not race-ending. When Kenseth slammed into the start/finish wall, it was incredible how close he was to taking JPM with him. Even bashing Biffle didn't damage his car much.

It looked scary being the driver in front for two car hook ups, the driver in front could get spun out so easily.

The race had a record number of cautions for the Daytona 500, 16 cautions whooo whooo crashing crashing crashing !!!!!

Well worth watching the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix Raceway today, the Nationwide race was a proper motor race. An epic battle between Kyle Busch and Edwards near the end.
