http://americanlemans.com/primary1.php?cat=news|15452

this is in america, so what this mean for europe i don't know, but all races live on espn3 (isn't that the internet channel?) with other coverage on abc stations.

What i'm hoping is motors can take the web feed live and show that for quali and race. I doubt they will though.

Well it's fantastic news for the championship, being broad casted on ABC and ESP2 will significantly increase viewing figures as both channels are mainstream in the US.

Having internet coverage is fine by me, from the sounds of that article ESPN 3 is online - hopefully European viewers can access that too.

Frankly, Sky Sports used to show NASCAR races from ESPN 2 and ABC with no problems, and they still do with IndyCar. Heck, even that crappy channel with no money managed it (Open Access) for the UK's NASCAR coverage last year. So Motors TV shouldn't have a problem with showing live ALMS races.

espn 3 is north america only

open access were at one point broadcast nascar in such a low band width it was only 4 pixels.

I'd rather wait a week and have a more normal display.

Itís invertible that when a sports business wants to expand, it wants TV stations which can reach more viewers and are more mainstream. Speed TV do an excellent job in general and not just for ALMS Ė but having coverage on ESPN 2 and ABC in particular will open up ALMS to a whole new audience. Mass America watches these channels. Not sure about ESPN 3 though.

As good as Speed TV is, itís ultimately a specialist cable channel in the US purely watched by racing fans and nobody else. Thatís obviously great, but there is limited growth potential by restricting TV coverage to specialist outlets.
