Music to my ears, I've always preferred the way that coupe prototype's look - they look like proper sportscars and not like single seater cars.

Nice to see that it will have a small capacity petrol as well, it should sound great too.

After all, which emerging economies like diesel cars?

Asia? No chance!
USA? Lol!
South America? Haha!
Russia? No chance!

Bye bye diesel!

the us market share for diesel is increasing, but it's not a big share.

Yeah, those are my thoughts as well. Maybe it'll look a bit better with a paintjob (as in hiding the ugliness) The new engine cover fins are well ugly as well.

Yikes, that is seriously ugly. I donít think Iíve seen a race car that looks so boxy as this does, the wheel arch covers make the overall car look foul. Oh, and that dorsal fine looks completely out of place. Itís like somebody has stuck a plank of wood on the engine cover and walked off. At least the F1 versions were curvaceous and were small to disguise the extra bulk.

A shame also that the R18 is diesel-powered, Audiís fastest growing road car markets donít like diesel Ė yet they still persist with TDIÖ

i think the ACO need to reconsider having shark fins covers in 2012. they do nothing at all other than make cars ugly and annoy me.

Other Audi 1-2-3 would be good

i think modern diesels are good from german car makers like Audi and BMW, they are going to get better like most engines will do.

I now the answer to your question

http://www.mulsannescorner.com/newsnov10.html

basica\lly the rules favour lower drag, basically the new rules mean that p1 cars are down by XXX horse power, like one of the tanks in command and conquer red alert 2, high speed low drag.

Diesel performance is fantastic, in fact it has been brilliant for ten years now. But diesel performance is not the problem. The problem, is that diesel-powered passenger cars are only popular in Europe. And Europe is a market which isn't growing and won't grow much in the near future. The USA, Asian markets, Middle Eastern markets and African markets (the growth markets) are not interested in diesel. They only want petrol or electric cars.

Specifically, in the main growth market and also the world's biggest car market, China, diesel-powered cars are unheard of. So considering all of that, it doesn't seem like a good idea to promote a fuel that the biggest and most lucrative car markets don't like. TDI might win another ten times at Le Mans, but nobody in China, America or anywhere in the East will want to buy a diesel passenger car.
