I don't think people should get their knickers in a twist, that fin on the Peugeot looks like a piece of scaffolding has been attatched. I suspect the developed and tested versions will look sleeker then that, like how Red Bull 4.

I hope the 2011 cars loose traction control, controlling all that torque with no electronic intervention would make things interesting.

Another observation, the bodywork on the Peugeot looks smoother and less cluttered - I like that.

And finally, it has out-board wing mirrors like the Red Bull and Ferrari F1 cars used to have - they look cool.

we still don't need fin covers.......F1 have drop the idea of fin covers

Clearly the cars looks better with out them. They didn't have fin covers before, if its not broken don't fix it.

gt cars need outboard mirrors and can put them far enough forward for the driver to use them, where the f1 cars were so far back.

the fin's looks horrible

I don't think any current F1 car has a shark fin, apart from the Toro Rosso. Everybody else either has a normal engine cover or have developed an F-Duct system.

In the fins current form on the Peugeot, it looks rather ungainly. But its important to remember that it is for safety reasons, there have been some horrific shunts due to cars leaving the track and in the air rather too quickly.

they already did stop cars taking off, by outlawing "flat bottom cars"

ie

i know this isn't at Le-Mans as the guy who uploaded it is a nob, these cars dod race at LeMans though,

those fins won't do anything to stop cars taking off now that the rear wings have been made smaller, yes they stop air from mixing, but this wouldn't been needed if the rear wings hadn't been made smaller, thus the reason they were made smaller was to slow the cars down, it they want to stop cars from taking off Rolling Eyes allow ground effect or fan cars, the fact is & this applies to F1 cars is that a light weighing car will always want to take-off, especially LeMans cars as they are basically F1 cars with covered wheels.

there have been a couple of flights more recently, but last year the aco made more changes and i can't remember one in the last 12 months.

It should be added the finn in front of the red bull and thee fin on top of the red bull didn't stop webber flying

The above video is a rather extreme circumstance though, I don't think anybody from the safety bodies is saying that accidents can completely be prevented from happening - but just to minimise them. Stopping a car flipping through the air when a driver hits another one up the rear end at over 190 mph is optimistic. But racing cars fly through the air fewer times then they used to, and are less susceptible to it.

With F1 cars anyway, there is a hook on the front nose (near the steering wheel) and near airbox that in most cases, stops them getting airborne so easily in most scenarios.
