something like that, he's always hated rear wheel drive. I though when these rules came out it was only front wheel drive. So a bmw body would be fine, but it would have to be converted to front wheel drive.

But then that would lose many of the BMW's advantages, compared to all the other cars on the grid which are FWD.

Since he's now on the Touring Car Bureau, or whatever the FIA are calling it these days, are privateer BMW's days' numbered as well in WTCC?

The Audi name is returning to the BTCC which is great to see, it'll be run as an independant and to the new generation regulations but either way its still going to be great to see an Audi on the grid again

Now all you want Cal is someone to run a NGTC Renault (Laguna?) next year

Yes please! I'd love that but somehow the 5dr Laguna just doesn't look like a Touring car now not like the one from the 90's

And with Cerca i'd rather have a new Renault than a Skoda or a Merc Laughing

Wow by the looks of things we are going to have a decent size grid for next season.

Should be another great season.

Cal, i'd have thought you be more upset by the lack of Renault's in BTCC, especially if the Clio grid doesn't double this year and we get the same dull races as in 2010

Isn't the Megane a bit small though, the NGTC cars seem to be more Laguna size, i guess partly a throwback to the popularity of Super Touring in the 90's, when virtually all the cars raced were this sort of size.

but cars seem to get bigger generation by generation so the newst megane is probably the same size the the laguna from the 90's, well nearly.

Yeah the new Megane I think is a big car and defo bulky enough to barge those bloody Fords out of the way Laughing anyway the new Laguna just doesn't look like a Touring car the Megane does, shame its not going to happen

Correct. I'll give you an example, the next BMW 3-Series is going to be as big as the 5-Series from 1995 - but that's a totally different segment of car.

The latest VW Polo is far bigger then the original Golf., again, different classes of car.

I think the reason why saloons and coupe's work so well in touring cars, is there long wheelbases. A longer wheelbase means superior high-speed cornering abilities because the car is more stable. Plus, the aerodynamic advantage of having an boot means the dirty air is channelled of the car - reducing drag. Hatchbacks traditionally have not fared well in BTCC.

Mat Jackson in at Airwaves Ford, as well as Liam Griffin, who i seem to remember falling off the track rather a lot in the Porsches, ah well at least he can see if he can beat John George then.

Yeah, Jeff Smith, the Clio midfielder is in the other car, wasnt particularly impressive in the 888 Vectra at Knockhill and didn't exactly set the Clio Cup alight with his result there either, but obviously has some good funding from somewhere.
