And then there were 4. Plato, Neal, Shedden and Onslow-Cole all in with a chance of becoming champion. All on the Indy layout so expect some carnage!
Clio Cup racer Sam Tordoff has landed the seat at 888, he's finally beaten Dave Newsham at something this year! Just hope he keeps out of the way better than Jeff Smith did at Knockhill http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=5325

Which means Newsham doesnt appear to have many options if he wants to do Brands as well. Maybe the same SEAT Leon that Glew had at Silverstone

I'm hoping for Shedden as previously said, but unless he has a disaster then i think Plato is far enough ahead to pick up points.

Jason Plato for me, he's been consistent, quick and measured. Everybody else has been too inconsistent compared to Plato for the whole season.

Excellent news, he can show Jeremy Clarkson that life doesn't start and end with Top Gear (I'm referring to Clarkson's constant bashing of Collins).

Ben Collins will be able to experience the superior delights of a BMW.

I'm hoping Plato goes on to win it, feel hes been generally over the season the better and picked up points when he could, its not all about wins its just picking up points and Points mean prizes

Yep I hope Plato wins it, although it would be good if it goes down to the final race of the season like it did last year.

Matt Neal doesn't seem to b ethat popular on here Laughing .

I would hate to be Ben Collins in a way. As now what ever he does he is still going to get the "stig" branded around him.

no real surprises there, even Plato has cut down on the biff em out the way tactics this year, and hey presto, he's leading the championship. Plus he's already won 2 championships, be nice to see a new name on the trophy.

I remmember that SIR! Probs one of the best laps ever in the BTCC, I know we slag off Neal but in the first collision Neals car control was brilliant how he held it

Don't want him to win the title though, want Plato to do it

Just to add a quick note, BTCC will be screened in HD next season on the ITV HD channel.

HA, British touring cars going HD before F1? BBC really need to pull their finger out next year.

Infact even Moto GP isn't shown in HD. WSBK beat them to it ages ago.

Bernie Ecclestone said that F1 will be broadcasted in HD next year, the 2011 F1 season starts earlier then the 2011 BTCC season. It would be close, but F1 would be first.

The racing was a bit boring in races 1 and 2 by BTCC standards. But Plato was in a class of his own in both races, his starts were ideal and he made no mistakes. Plato is a thoroughly deserving champion.

Steven Kahne is just wet behind the ears Iím afraid. He was hopeless on restarts in race 3 and he didnít think to make shove Andrew Jordan out of the way Ė nice people in touring cars donít get very far! Oh, and as for Andrew Jordan Ė a very undeserving win. He only won race 3 because of that crappy lottery system, it had little to do with how he drove or his car Ė mayhem behind allowed him to escape.

Roll on 2011!

Indeed, Although I wouldn't have minded Sheddon or Tom Onslow-Cole to win it.

I don't expect to hear much touring car news until a few months before the start. I remember at the start of this year, we were worried because it looked like only about 10 cars were going to start the 2010 season. But everything came together and it was a good season for the amount of cars considering all the financial troubles.

I will be making Croft and Donnington again if work permitting. I may also try to venture up Scotland next year for the Knockhill race. I need to see different tracks.

I would like to say well done to Nick, for managing to get to every event this year. Am sure at certain points of the weekends you thought " I wish we never bothered" (That downpour at Brands springs to mind) But am sure you can look back and enjoy it all now.

Same again next year? Laughing

Well it was a great weekend, even if Plato walked it and made the races boring, congratulations to him, he was deserving winner over the course of the season having managed to tame his 'crash em off' attitude that cost him last year.
Poor TOC really didn't have a good day, no wonder he wants to head off to Oz for V8SC's.
I actually met a Matt Neal fan during the pit walkabout, the only one though, mainly the support was for Plato.
Paul O'Neill had 3 good solid races even if he didn't sign the Integra off with a win, made up for the nightmare at Donington. Let's hope sunshine and Techspeed can get a car for him for next year, or maybe another team could look at Paul.
Poor Dave Pinkney didnt even get past FP1 when his engine went and didnt have another one. Sam Tordoff went well on his 888 debut, top 10 quali was a really good effort and would be a welcome addition next year.
A mention for Martin Johnson who was in the venerable Astra Coupe for the last time, he had a great battle in race 1 with John George and the Forster BMW's holding them all off even though his car was running on 3 cylinders; then with the car still on 3 cylinders he came out for race 3. A shame that he's unlikely to find a budget to get a car for next year.
The NGTC Toyota looked great, especially in the matt black finish, so lets hope a few people take the plunge and we get a few different body shapes for 2011.
As for 2011 we won't hear much news until the media day, Honda have confirmed an entry, but not the drivers, so Sheds will be nervous despite doing so well this year. Thommo lurks in the background and already has Honda contacts.
It has been brilliant doing all 10 rounds, plenty of rain especially in the first half of the season and Brands GP was not fun at all, but the two new tracks to me, Croft and Knockhill, were the best meetings, maybe because they were new, but mainly i think cos they were great for spectators and had great racing. Also good to meet up with Steven and Cal.
Next year we won't be doing them all, not a cheap thing to do for a start, and would also be nice to go to some other forms of racing. So, Oulton, Croft, Snetterton will be definates, Knockhill would love to do again, and will probably do the 'local' tracks at Donington and Rockingham. Brands and Thruxton will give a miss and see about Silverstone nearer the time.

Team Aon have already announced that Mountune (a Ford tuning specialist) are going to be making a NGTC engine for next year Ė which is good news. RMLís situation with Chevrolet is interesting; will RML want to build a new engine for BTCC racing? After all, RML will probably be busy enough making the new WTCC engine (1.6 litre turbo) for 2011.

I think itís great that BTCC has had official factory cars this season with Chevrolet and Honda, there is nothing quite like official factory cars on the grid.

Finally watched race 3 last night, how come Collard passed O'Neill under yellows on lap one, didn't give the place back, and didn't get any penalty? Still Paul passed him back in style later in the race and nearly had Jackson as well.
