Well done to Sam Bird, who finally had some good luck to outdrag his team mate from the front row and win the race whilst a large portion of the competition (including almost confirmed champion Maldonado) crashed into others.

Race 2 was quite messy, those new kerbs at the first chicane meant that drivers can either make the chicane or just straight line it. Which is why there were two safety car periods within four laps.

Pastor Maldonado has done a good job this year, he wouldn't have won all the races he has won by being poor. But, he has been in GP2 for a while now and perhaps that takes some shine of his new GP2 title. Unless he can bring money to an F1 team, F1 teams tend to like new shiny GP2 drivers who perform brilliantly in the very first season. Apparently he may be going to Sauber - big bucks I suspect...

3 or 4 seasons in GP2 means a very good source of funding, so i think he might just be able to buy himself into F1. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory at Monza, but has driven very well on Saturday races all season before that. However you need to perform on Sunday's as well so i can't imagine any other teams other than the new ones would realistically look at him as a potential driver.

Pastor Maldonado was the traditional monaco winner until now
He is sponsored by the venezuelan government (PDVSA)
and is rubbish if he's not near the front
about a .8 grosjean perhaps .85 this year

Ah, I always wondered who 'PDVSA' are. If drivers don't perform straight out of the box in GP2 then they are forgotten in most cases - unless money plays a role in proceedings. If Maldonado does get an F1 drive it will almost certainly be money related. But then it will be a situation with Petrov now in F1 with Renault: very inconsistent and in danger of losing his seat despite bringing money to Renault.
