Yeah, James showed a lot of promise last year, but a real shame no funding to run Gio, especially after a stunning Thruxton. We'll have to try arrange to meet up as quite a few of us are going to Rockingham.

Not sure about Rockingham, never been. So you guys will know the best place to meet.

A real shame about Gio, whatever anybody says about him - he is outstanding. Nash won't be able to achieve that Gio did in Thruxton. Gio was good for BTCC, because it showed that a driver of his calibre wanted to be in BTCC.

Not sure of the best place to meet up, guess near one of the trade stands that's on the way in between the start finish grandstand and the turn 1 one. Guess we should exchange mobile numbers, i have Sav's.
First race is scheduled at 10am, Rockingham say gates open at 9am. Will head to the back of the pits initally, try and see if Paul O'Neill is about to say hello to and any other drivers about to collar sigs off.
I find turn 1 grandstand high up is best place to watch from as i want to take pix, last year they didn't open turn 4 grandstand up. You can see most of the track from turn 1, apart from the chicane at the end of the lap.

Doesnt look like Arthur Depper will make it as is stuck in USA

So it's 2,500 from here to Spain and back to Rockingham. Sounds like a great road journey. I hope he makes it. I want a local team to support.

Again I would of liked to have gone to this but other plans have thwarted the idea.

I'm surprised anyone is running a BMW. The bias against them in btcc is redicious.

Gow is a bias somethingorother.

So what do we think, that pole being converted into at least one win out of 3? Will Plato be proven right when he said the LPG cars will walk it or will the same problems strike them again?

Shame Gio won't be there, he was phenomenal as ever at Thruxton.

Not sure if it's been covered on here yet, but I read somewhere that the final race will be shown live on ITVs BTCC website.

Neal wins race1, LPG cars seemed to suffer from using the wrong tyres.

Confirmation from early on in the show that from 3PM all the races will be streamed live on the website, just hope their servers can handle it better than they did the F1 when they used to stream that.

In any case I found what will be airing on ITV1... a repeat of Britain's Got (No) Talent.... obviously that and Ray Mear's Survival CAN'T be delayed in their airing in any way... (even though both are repeats) Rolling Eyes

Stuff like this IS just another reason I've not watched ITV1,2 or 3 on any kind of regular basis since they lost the F1 coverage.

First visit to Rockingham for about five years for me today. Was a good day all in all, a bit damp at times but my girlfriend got sunburnt so must have been sunny for a decent amount of time!

The touring car races were all pretty good. Plato's win was controlled excellently, while Neal's were both very professional. The action behind in each race was excellent - I was very impressed. My only request would be for a few more cars and a few more big names - both manufacturers and drivers. I have no problem with Chevrolet but they just aren't Vauxhall, Audi or Renault are they? And the series misses Gio and Turk big time. The other guys are good, just not quite enough big names at the moment. I guess it does give other guys a chance like Chilton, Collard and Sheddon. They need to step up and become the new stars.

The support races were good. I most enjoyed the Formula Renault races, obviously. The cars are slightly quicker this year so I imagine they're not far off F3 pace. The Hungarian chap who won the first race and finished second in the second race looks like one who could make the step up to F3 and maybe GP2 succesfully. The Carrera race was good and it was nice to see such a full field - I recall seeing Carrera races with only 12 cars a few years ago so to see 25 on the grid was fantastic. The Clio race was rather amusing as the exhaust on the leading car sounded like it had packed up making the Clio sound like a 50s Le Mans Merc. Wink The Ginetta races were ok, wasn't really bothered about them much though I wouldn't mind a go in one....!

Went round the pits at lunch and saw all the touring car drivers. I have most of their autographs so didn't bother today.

All in all a good day's racing. And was a doddle getting out too - we were home at half 6. Given that the final race didn't start til half 4 and it's an hour journey for me from Cambridge, that's a pretty good effort. Though disappointingly, the attendance seemed quite low. I guess it's the lack of star names....

Just got back today, obviously thrilled for Paul O'Neill with a race 3 second place, stayed and watched the podium presentation for race 3 and went off to say hello if i could, did get a big thumbs up from him as he went to change out of his overalls, but then he was whisked away on a golf buggy, so left it at that. Just gonna watch the ITV4 highlighhts that's being Sky+ ed now and will post more tomorrow
