to run le mans and le mans intercontinental challenge and the spa round of lms, but that isn't enough to qualify for lmic as you need 5 lms race entries to do so.

the r15 is not legal for 2010

the r10 is legal but isn't allowed factory drivers

The Aco should be happy they got the win they wanted.

So Audi doing Sebring, Le mans 24hour and spa and petit le mans? or only spa and Le mans 24hour?

Audi is to expand its prototype programme for 2010 and will enter the new Le Mans Intercontinental Cup as well as the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Spa Francorchamps round of the Le Mans Series.

The German marque scaled back its LMP1 project in 2009 due to the economic downturn - withdrawing from the LMS and American Le Mans Series and only racing in the Sebring 12 Hours and Petit Le Mans alongside its traditional Le Mans 24 Hours start. Although Audi's new R15 won on its debut at Sebring, it was beaten by Peugeot at Le Mans and Road Atlanta.

Next year its flagship squad Joest will run three cars at Spa and Le Mans, and then a two-car team in the Intercontinental Cup. The driver line-up has yet to be announced.

Audi's motorsport boss Dr Wolfgang Ullrich said Le Mans organiser the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's willingness to embrace alternative technologies was key to his firm's continued involvement in LMP1.

"In 2001, at Le Mans, we used a TFSI engine for the first time that has since become standard in production vehicles," said Ullrich. "In 2006, we were the first automobile manufacturer in history to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a diesel-powered vehicle.

"And in the future we will use our LMP1 cars to test pioneering technologies and to underscore our 'Vorsprung durch Technik' claim also on the race track.

"Therefore, we welcome greatly the fact that the Automobile Club de l'Ouest has announced the first international racing series for LMP1 vehicles. We are convinced that this motorsport category, which is particularly attractive from the perspective of technology, has prospects for a great future and fits our times well."

Yup, thats how I understand it. I like the sound of the Le Mans Intercontinental Cup. Good that Audi have confirmed there participation, hopefully Peugeot will as well. I'm going anyway to LMS for BMW, but seeing a great LMP1 dual would be good.

Perhaps a bit of corruption and fixing is needed? Hmm, I think so....

Oh yeah, scandals are great. Hopefully this gets leaked, then the media will report about it. Then sportscar racing becomes more recognised. Its what Bernie does with F1, and it works a treat. bravo

A bit of scandal, corruption always spices up the show.

Berine controls everything with F1. He keeps F1 in the press and people talking about it. Wait for 2010 he will have something planned.

I don't see Why The ACo Just let Audi and pug be legal

i like the Le Mans Intercontinental Cup idea

the reason they done that, is because audi and peugoet have mega bucks compared to everyone else. I bet neither spend more than 10 to 15 mil a year on racing though.

Indeed. Bernie controls the show and tells it how it is. He is responsible for screwing over the world sports car series and making F1 the biggest annual sporting series. Its absolutely fantastic.

Doesn't matter if the story is terrible, like the Singapore scandal. Creates more publicity = more viewers. And thats the only thing that matters, Bernie has friends in the media, like the Times. Bernie is the king!!!!
