Great news there on all counts.

Your right, Plato should be favorite, we know thw car is good. Nice to see Kane back. Hope Phil Glew gets a 888 seat. Wish i was feeling better today, would have gone down

23 cars isn't bad considering I thought we would be lucky to get 10 cars on the grid at one stage.

Yeah 2001 and 2002 was very small grids, they had the production championship back then to fill the grid a bit

2005 only started off with 11 cars at Donington.

See who shows up for 888 at Thruxton

Am looking forward to seeing the Focus win races this season, Hopefully it's still the loudest car on the grid, But having watched footage of the media day from Brands the Seat Cupra sounds nice.

Oh and Calden, It's Croft it's bound to rain so take your waterproofs.

BTCC is looking decent now, with two manufacturer teams. It makes up for the lack of cars on the grid.

to be honest there's about the same amount of cars as last season, just a shame Turks will likely miss out on defending his title.

Reading Autosport WSR may try and run him in all the WTCC European rounds, that would be good.

I'm always wary on story's on April 1st but found this on btcccrazy.co.uk

Quote :

Russian based team, Silver Motors, are the latest addition to the BTCC with just three days to go before the season opener at Thruxton.

“We’re very happy to have secured a deal to drive in the BTCC at such a late stage,” said Igor Kalishnikov, the Silver Motors team boss. “We’ve had limited testing back over in Russia but we believe that we will be able to compete against many of the teams in the series.”

The team have received the backing from a major price comparison website and have made it possible for the team to make it to the first round of the season. “Without the sponsorship we wouldn’t have been there. I’ve been working hard to secure the deal and I’m just happy that we’ve finally got there.”

Silver Motors will be entering using the Lada Priora after purchasing the chassis from the Russian Bears Motorsport team who competed in the WTCC using the same car. The team already have experience with the car after they finished a respectable 3rd in the Lada Championship last season but elected to purchase the S2000 Priora from the ex-WTCC team.

Silver Motors will be spearheaded by the Russian driver, Aleksandr Orlov. “I’ve always wanted to race in the BTCC for many years. To get the chance is brilliant. It’s going to be a tough season as we’ve not had much testing but if I drive well, and the car does good, then we’ll score some points. Simples,” said the 35-year-old driver.

hahaha Laughing

Good to see we have such a large grid though, the Autosport Magazine's Season Preview made fascinating reading, and of course with the Fab back, even better. Shame that Plato's whining about another team's car having a huge advantage though, I find him a lot more likeable when he's just getting on with it (that goes for pretty much any driver)
