For me, the site has been weird today.

When I tried getting on site earlier it kept coming up with the forumotion.com site inviting me to open up a new site. Then when I did eventually get on I had to log-in, I don't usually have to do this as I never log-out even when I switch the computer off I never have to log back in.

And now my Yogi avitar is missing, in fact so is everyones and so are loads of Smilies over on the left - affraid

Hello there,

this is from the horse's mouth, from forumotion's site:
Quote :
Please, there is no need for everyone to repeat the same issues, we are working on them right now so it will hopefully be fixed in the next couple of hours.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Quote :
Dear users,

We have had for some time, downtime and slowdown due mainly to a new provider for our servers. This service, that we had been advised by top IBM engineers, was meant to optimize and anticipate the traffic increase on your forums and our servers.

We bitterly regret that provider choice which currently and after several days of research and development, was unable to provide a stable solution.
Therefore, we decided to leave the service to join back to our previous provider. This change will take place within hours and we are confident about the result.
These new servers are ultra-efficient and will provide you with what we've promised : faster forums, more efficient, 99,9% uptime and enhanced security for your data.

During this migration, your forums will suffer delays. Do not worry, your forums do not risk anything, this maneuver is controlled and your forums should regain their vitality very quickly.

We are still sorry for the inconvenience caused, we fully understand the bitterness generated by such issues.
Therefore, as soon as the stabilization of your forums on the new servers will be established, we will make a gift to all our users and forums. o)

Best regards,
Forumotion Team.

That is the information that I have been given.

No problem, I really do apologise for all the problems. This sort of problem occurs once a year and once a year only, thankfully. This part of the year obviously sucks, but the technical people do sort things out very quickly.

when i was last on the clocks site (the weekend) they were updating it all so that may be something to do with it as the clocks are linked to their site, it the problem persists like it did before i will take them down for a bit until its sorted out.

it could also be the chat box.

i'm not having any problems myself.

it stills a little slow, but maybe just a couple of seconds. Nothing to worry about.

I like the chat box, i wondering if the front page is not the best place for it (note i need to read the chat box thread)

No idea, so no. If I'm the only one I can live with it. Flash gets on my nerves so it'll be out of date for a while yet.

hmmmm personally i would advise everyone to update Flash as often as the updates are available, lots of sites are now using Flash, i also use Adobe Shockwave & Air.

what browser are you using by the way ?

just bringing to attention that members signatures seem to be growing again, nothing wrong with a nice signature Smile

however the size allowed in the rules is much greater than allowed in most other forums, yes we are flexible on this, but please bear in-mind other members using the site & members who wish to use the forum via mobile phone, as large images can cause problems.

Header is MUCH too large now, it means that on my 1024x768 laptop I have to scroll right to read all threads, which sucks.

Please remember that not everybody has widescreen laptops all the time.

ALL sites should render in 1024 width - it's still what the majority of internet users have.

Also, PLEASE remove the chatroom from the front page - I use the "Read posts since last visit" button a lot, and now it's somewhere halfway down the page scrolled off the right of the visible pane. It should be at the top and visible.

So, sensible sized banner and chatroom not on front page (perhaps put it on another page which people can go to if they want to chat).

Ta!
