Just heard, some IT people are completely changes servers so that is the reason for the slow loading. But this will have no effect on us apart from slow loading for a short while. Smile

According to the people who own this software, many forums were not operating this morning due to server issues. If that was the case with this forum, apologies for any inconvenience. Smile

its very slow now!

also i noticed that the server location has changed, it is now in Marseille (France).

Sav what have they told you was being done, have they moved servers ?

if the servers have moved to France the site will fall under French laws Neutral i will have to look into it as they are far more restrictive than USA or UK.

Yep I have been getting that message too recently, I do apologise for that. Some IT people are still changing the server which should apparently be a lot faster. Smile I hope all this inconsistent speeds/errors can be fixed shortly.

Had that message just now.

I suspect Forumotion will not be around much longer.

We still have a strategy to take control of our own forum, or have we decided to stick with these people - regardless of whether we lose the forum or not?

I'm still happy to host the forum, and I'm sure Cadpig (if we can find him) would support it too.

Quote from forumotion's help forum:
Quote :
Dear users,

All the maintenance process is now over.

Please notify me of any issue you may still have on your forums.

Best,
Forumotion staff.

Their has been no evidence that suggests that Forumotion is going to be axed, the server switch has caused some difficulties (as experienced by our members - which I apologise for) but considering their database contains so many forums - its been a relatively smooth transition. In the year and a half of this forum has been in existence, the servor error messages and slow loading are the second set of issues to ever effect this forum. Considering the level of support, advice, the quality of the forum that we get and that its completely free - I like Forumotion.

And as far as members are concerned, its just as easy to use as any other forum and its usually extremely reliable. So things are just fine.

yeah, i will add you, (not got round to doing the list yet Embarassed )

it may be sever issues after the move, that has caused the site to be down in the past hour or so, i was online at the time.

i shouldn't be saying this, as Sav hasn't decided yet, but we are talking about updating the forum to a new version, some people may not like it, but it enables the admin to run the site better, its more secure & more things can be done with it, as it has been out a while all the probs will be sorted etc, nothing is going to happen yet though, this wouldn't stop the host & server issues at the moment though.

Is forumotion free? And is the software free? I'd be happy to pay towards a site which used vbulletin on a different server and I'm sure others would too.
