Anyone else going to this race? You get great views of most of the track from the Grandstands, just a bit far away for photography purposes;

We have a few cars joining/returning for Rockingham,

Gordon Shedden,

Anthony Reid again (Onslow-Cole will be pleased)

I was going to go but Brands Hatch it is for me. Good to hear that Team RAC are bringing a third car again but can Reid really score points and act as rear gunner for Colin?

Jonathan Adam will probably nail Plato off the line though. Oh dear, I can see this championship going to Gio although it should be great racing tomorrow - enjoy your day.

Race 3 in particular was mega, in a way Turkington has to be thankful that Plato kept pushing with along - otherwise he would have spun. The sensational aspect was that all three title contenders were battling on the same bit of tarmac. I feel sorry for Chilton, but that Focus was never going to be a match for the Vectra and 320si.

Jelley really impressed today, being very fast and driving like a true touring car driver. Same with Herbert, he got stuck into the rough and tough of touring cars without an issue. Come on Turkington and BMW!

That was a mental 3rd race.

Yehhhh w00t whooo The Focus finishes on the podium. Be even better next year, Mighty impressed with Herbert in the 3rd race, He seems to be settling in alright Razz

Was it just me or did anyone else think Matt Neal tried to torpedo Turkington at the hairpin in the first race but got it very wrong indeed?.

With TV missing the incident its hard to know whether Matt got a hit from a rival or forgot to brake. I didn't see it at the track cos i was following the cars at the front. The safety car made an appearance at every race yesterday, dunno if that's some sort of record.
I thought Herbert was doing well getting stuck in, but Gio isnt very happy with him.

All of the 3 title contenders gave rivals nudges to get past, although Plato had to overdo it as usual!! Well done to Stephen Jelley for his wins, has Reid's appearance been the catalyst for him getting his act together? And a great result for Chilton in race 3.

Went along to the gig The Sun's band were doing with guests from the BTCC world. Stephen Jelley looked really nervous playing guitar to 2 songs, but he did really well. Tom Chilton showed up with a borrowed drum and was pretty good. Then Herbert arrived with a tambourine, and Plato showed up and pratted around behind the drums. Paul O'Neill was a no show sadly as he was billed as playing the drums. Was better than queueing to get out as well!!!

Will try and get some pix up at some point, been so busy the last few weeks i havent had time to do the ones from the last 2 meetings.

Coincidentally, Neal also crashed into somebody at Knockhill because he lost control on the grass. It wouldn't surprise me if that was his tactic - to crash Turkington out. After all he did help prevent Plato winning the title in 07 because he was becming a Vauxhall driver the year after.

Matt Neal's says Anthony Reid forced him on the grass in his race 1 crash, sounds like a typical tc lap 1 incident though.

http://www.channel4.com/4car/news/news-story.jsp?news_id=19665

from the interview

You also had a crash in race one. What happened?

'It was at the Deene Hairpin again. On the run down there on the first lap, I was trying to get down the inside of Anthony Reid's BMW and he moved over, which meant I was on the grass. I couldn't brake on the grass and went into the side of Johnny Herbert's Honda. It was a big hit and I trapped a certain part of my anatomy in the crutch straps too, which made the eyes water a bit.'

Ouch affraid

Indeed, Gio has completely owned him yet again this season so why not concentrate on that.

Finally watched the 3rd race on tv last night, some great battling going on, shame Plato had to mess it up again, but did like Tom Chilton's comment when he was interviewed.
As for Gio, he can't complain about Herbert, they were just racing hard, he could have always got out of it to preserve his car, just he's a racing driver and they don't do that!
I don't think the Vectra is competitive enough now for Gio to challange Turks equally, but quite a bit depends on what Plato does (as in who he takes out at Brands) and whether it rains.
As for Matt Neal, he's had a real shocker of a season since Oulton really, i did look at my pic and actually have the incident and he was pushed on the grass diving inside Reid, but you'd have thought he'd have learnt that by now.
Stephen Jelley really impressed me, he looks like a TC driver now.
Roll on next week!

Cannot wait to get to Brands Hatch now, I wonder why the Vectra has gone slightly backwards. I mean BTCC is hardly a development race and you would have thought that the only factory team would have found something over the Winter, mind you with GM's situation - perhaps no development whatsoever happened - despite being a 'factory' team.
