GP2 returns this weekend after a long break to a street circuit in Valencia, supporting the Formula One weekend as ever. Thankfully, both races will be shown live by Eurosport. So will the Porsche Supercup on Sunday morning.

This track should produce some exciting racing, as GP2 often does. Smile Hulkenberg will want to increase that gap, but he may not have much of a challenge if Grosjean gets confirmed for the Renault F1 drive...

Well I think he would have won the title even if Grosjean hadn't gone to F1, but he is virtually a shoo-in now that he has. That man is a serious talent and I'm sure he will be in F1 sooner rather than later.

Agreed on both accounts, Hulkenberg has basically had the championship under control since the Nurburgring when Grosjean went backwards. I am optimistic that Hulkenberg will join Williams next year...

A fairly dull race, but Petrov won after Hulkenberg almost crashed and hit the barrier at turn in on lap 1, he tried to pass Petrov in the closing laps but there was not enough time. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/77884

Maldonado excluded from results for too low floor, Kobayashi on pole

bit of a shame when it was caused by accident damage, still that's F1 stewards for you!

Yes, the F1 stewards showed their inconsistency again today. Rolling Eyes

Has Kobayashi got to be the biggest idiot ever? He was backing the pack up, but he intended to pit! Rolling Eyes Gareth Reece just wanted to say WTF? But obviously couldn't on air, what an idiot. The Sato of GP2.

The Sprint Race was wonderfully crazy, plenty of safety car periods, crashes and overtaking. There were three safety car periods within 7 laps. Razz Lap 1 was very messy, somebody lost control on the outside kerb at turn 1 and others just went off in sympathy. Nunes was very good, making clean overtaking moves withour crashing. Yikes, I am not sure where the maturity came from.

Great win by Hulkenberg.

I couldn't understand why DAMS didn't call Kobayashi in during the first SC period to sort the wing, he might have stood a chance of getting back in the race with the other SC periods happening as well. The incidents were crazy, Mortara must have watched Knockhill BTCC last week with his antics!!!
Good to see Hulkenberg managed to miss all the madness and take a solid win, Perez did well too. Nunes seemed to suddenly find everything clicked and managed to make places, he's not been impressive this year considering he won in GP2 Asia.

Yep caught the second race live and it was mental tbh, Mortara would be more at home in a touring car I feel! Again the Hulk showed his class throughout the weekend, and will no doubt turn out to be a deserving champion for the series.

Good point, that would have prevented him brake testing other drivers on the restart then.

I was rather surprised at how lenient the stewards were with some drivers. Mortara and Kobayashi needed penalties, especially Kobayashi who was plain dangerous for no good reason. And, I was surprised at how many damaged cars were allowed to continue. Dani Clos's car had a damaged front wing and a rear wing that was about to fall off, yet was not blacked flagged. Dani came in on his own accord, but the stewards were quite relaxed about some critical incidents.

The track is rather poor, I mean race 2 was a complete contrast to race 1. Race 2's action was mostly derived from drivers mistakes - but it was great action nevertheless.
