Yep, I will be there. Once MSV send out the tickets I will be even more excited Smile.

Taking a mate along, I'm so darn close to the circuit i thought this was the last year I had chance, so took it with open arms.

Who is also going? BHCP?

I will be trying to get there as early as poss, maybe 8.30 am to avoid any queues and becuase the police come out on big Snetterton days.

I am pretty sure BHCP is going. I can't wait for the racing to get back underway. It's been too long since Croft.

Yep, me and Elaine are going, we're camping again, hope the weather is better than the current forecast. I think we're travelling down Friday afternoon and set up for Friday night, then we're all ready for Saturday morning, was a good time to get autographs off the drivers before the first BTCC session at Oulton.
Are you going for Saturday as well Paddy? Will try sort something to meet up.
Other than Knockhill we're planning to attend all the remaining rounds on either race day or full weekend.

I might be going. Haven't been to any BTCC for years but might make it as it's only an hour or so up the road. Going to see how money is in a couple of weeks.

No i have tickets for race day itself only.
1. I only get 2 days off work every 14, so not spending all that time at the track and
2. My mate wouldn't do that and
3. I live literally 3-4 miles up the road. I can see the floodlights from my bedroom window, well could til the house next door was built.

If you wana try meet up PM me sometime soon Nick.

Drivers hold Plato favorite for Snetterton: http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=3744

I certainly hope so, Plato winning all three races at Snetterton would be brilliant. And looking at the standings, he isn't far off the championship leader Turkington either. Mind you, Turkington does drive a BMW. Wink

If a BMW has to win would like it to be Jonny Adam or Stephen Jelley as they haven't won yet. And a surprise winner in race 3 would be good, Adam Jones or Paul O'Neill. Guess it depends on the weather, race day is supposed to be dry from the forecast i've seen.
Race 1 is John George's 100th BTCC race btw.

Martyn Bell out with injured knee ligament

Which is a shame, although i'm sure Martyn will still be attending and around to talk to etc.

Got back late last night (11pm), had a great weekend, hopefully have some great pix, despite the shutter button breaking on the 400D, had to resort to the battery pack button, made things a bit more difficult, but did get used to it, don't suppose it will be cheap to fix Sad
James Nash has been excluded from his race 3 win for contact with Collard http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=3775
which is a shame for him, havent seen the tv footage yet, but he certainly drove well to fend off the others. Met up with Paddy couple of times in the day.
Managed to get the programme signed by all the participating BTCC drivers for the first time ever, got most of them on Saturday, but finished it off in the pit lane walkabout.
Will post more when i have seen the races, but well pleased for Paul O'Neill with a race 1 podium, great result for sunshine/techspeed and Paul cheers

Good racing from Snetterton, however it was not as spectacular as other BTCC rounds this year.

Giovanardi was superb last weekend, collecting the maximum points where his championship rivals got caught up in incidents. Matt Neal has lost a lot of points to Turkington and Giovanardi, I think it will be a two-horse race for the drivers title now.

Jason Plato was amazing in race 2 – from the back to 3rd. As soon as he came up to a rival, he passed them with ease. That Lacetti down the back straight was quite special, even against the BMW. It was a shame that Plato got a puncture in race 3, he was on course for a big haul of points.

James Nash’s contact with Collard in race 3 was unnecessary in my opinion. Collard had already moved over to protect his line, then Nash just bumps him off despite the gap was increasingly becoming narrower due to Collard defending, realistically Nash was never going to get through there. It was a nasty crash between Collard and Jelly, Collard looked to be winded after Jelley slammed into him at the Bombhole.

Paul O'Neill saved himself from looking like a complete fool when he slammed into Turkington, not knowing that the SC car had come out! That could have been a lot worse though, aka WTCC at Pau this year. James Nash didn’t deserve to win in my opinion, so I’m glad he was excluded. He didn’t drive that great a race, he merely got lucky with the race 3 lottery pick. He drove solidly in the race, but the circumstances largely contributed to his victory.

Yep, only caught Race 3 and I agree that Nash should have been thrown out, at the end of the day he is young and he has to learn that he can't just punt people out of the way to get by, and hopefully this penalty will have this affect. Was a good performance by O'Neill until he avoided contact behind the safety car, he did really well to avoid a big incident there tbh.

Pretty much agreed, I like close contact in BTCC as much as anyone, but it was a brain-fade move, the accident after was not nice, but the actual gap that he tried to go for did not exist.

I thought Nash was hard done by to get thrown out, it wasn't a deliberate tap, unlike last round at Croft where Plato pretty much got away with tapping Neal out. Yes, he was lucky in the reverse grid draw, but so have some of the other wins from the reverse grid draw over the years. He did withstand the pressure from those behind (and 2 safety car restarts) which not everyone is capable of.
It does seem like the 'names' get away with contact, but the new guys get penalised. At least Plato broke his own car in race 1 after taking Turks out on lap 1, so there was some justice there. And yet in race 2 Plato showed what he is capable of, great drive.
Was great to see the blubbing Paul O'Neill on the podium, shame he couldn't manage more that the one, but he did have 3 great finishes this round and hopefully has enough money to finish the season now. It was great cheering him on from the Esses, he seemed nearly as popular as Plato with the fans!!
Great results from Gio see him move up to 2nd in the Championship and he now has great momentun building for the last 4 meetings.
Pix will follow at some point this week.

I think the incident would have gone either way; a penatly or some evil eyes from the stewards. Laughing I can only speculate, but if the crash had not ocured with Collard and Jelley, then they would have punished Nash. But my issue was his unrealistic attempt at passing, the gap was ever closing, and if Collard had a FWD car and had managed to stay on (somehow), Nash would have cut across the grass and got a penalty anyway. Because just before the contact, Collard was drifting over to protect his line. And there was not enough road to get through.

Some of Thompson's moves were fantastic, few saw him coming at the final chicane.

Glad to see you made it home OK Nick. I wasn't back home til gone 8.30 cos I ran my friend back to his home. Was good seeing you and Elaine, both superb petrol heads. How was the car park exit?

I wasn't too far from Nick but more near the bridge so saw them down the straight and round all esses, bombhole and up to russell. Porshe first race had the best crash for me, 3 into 1 doesn't go as 40, 50 and i think 17 all found out. Great place to stand, could hear where exactly they were downshifting. Went saw Nick and Elaine for the first BTCC and clios after. Nice and busy on his camera. Hope that camera isn't too much to repair mate.

Did you see the classic car race spin at the esses? That Golf was suicidal, seriously on 2 wheels some laps. On 3 every time, such hard suspension. The small mini with the mega wing was so quick out of the esses!

Anyway, a good day, even if i am megaly sunburnt!

Well I finally got to see the Btcc highlights today as my recording didn't work on Sunday.

I thought it was typical Btcc mayhem which was great and I think James Nash has been unfairly punished. It's seems experienced pros can get away with it, But newcomers carn't (Johnny Adam Brands hatch) springs to mind.

It's touring cars racing, Yes the accident which followed was nasty but that's only because Collard moved over to block Nash in the first place.

James Thompson showed his true class on Sunday though, Apart from the Harry Vaulkhard incident. I hope the cars ok.
Am glad you had a good day again Nick. Sorry to hear about the camera though. Hope you can get it fixed.

BTCC often take these decisions, although I'm not going to judge them - they aren't a patch on FIA stewards! Collard and Jackson got a whole lot of shit when they collided with the fantastic Matt Neal. Rolling Eyes

Hey Paddy, yes we're going, doing all 10 BTCC rounds this year (as long as the money holds out!) looking forward to Snett, camping again for the weekend, might be worth you coming Saturday as well if you can afford it, much more relaxed on a Saturday.

No surprises Chilton quickest at the test on Thursday, which will please Steven

http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=5030

The Civic's didnt attend, and not everyone ran in both sessions cos of a huge downpour around midday.
