is it not done by the top 3 in all classes that gain automatic entry?

Could we swop the entry to Porsche? And it can be a giant killing petrol V12 which is so loud that you need earplugs, or else. Keep all the ex-Audi drivers though. I can only dream... Wink

because of the rule change almost no one will build a car for just 1 year., it'll be the 908 variation vs the updated r15 vs who knows.

Do you think they should stop The rahal letterman racing BMW's racing aswell......

I don't think Retal will be happy with People not taking GT1 rules...

F*** Retal and F*** FIA GT well hes ruining it.

as for the rlr bmw's i think thats a little different, it's still a little close too close to factory cars for my liking but i won't stop them.

I'd be very happen if at mopsort there were 2 corvettes run by MotorracingP motorsports, I jump for joy.

As soone as factory teams get involved the class goes up the pisser, corvette have done it once already...

I like GT2 with factory teams or factory backed cars, after all, GT2 is dependent on car makers using their production models as moulds for race cars. The situation in America is great, with BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette, Ford Panoz and a Jaguar next year. It is by far the most interesting class of ALMS and way better than the dead racing in LMS.

BMW should bring their GT2 M3's to Le Mans, it would be awesome. Very Happy

no, no, no, no, no

corvette are a factory team they are corvette racing

the bmw's are run by rlr (goes in both camps as does panoz)

the porsche and ferrari are customer cars

the ford and last year the viper were build by small teams

RLR could bring the bmw to le mans (they are legal to race there)

Corvette is different (a customer program would be great) but the factory team that killed gt1 dead, racing Flying Lizards (private), Farnbacher Loles (private), Risi (private). When Corvette start winning every week these small team will move on, it happen when Porsche build the 911 (993) GT1 AND MERCEDES BUILT THE CLK-GTR AND THE CLK-LM, that killed the first gt1

then gt2 became gt1 and to start with customer vipers raced customer vipers and the odd ferrari and some customer porsches and a marcos or 3 and saleens. Then came prodriver and maserati and corvette with factory programs and all the small customer teams went to gt2.

It has to be stopped, customer programs in gt's, factory cars in p1.

I agree with that. I mean You see P2 for example The Penkse cars killed everyone in 2007. only sebring they didn't win i think. i know from Long beach the won everything.

I like the Idea of Factory back a bit. Like Flying Lizards are a private team but are close to been factory backed.

And so far, there are not many mass car makers in P1. So that strategy is not working well either...

The problem with discouraging manufactures from GT classes, is that they may not want their production models racing if the ACO or ALMS adopt that attitude. After all, GT2 is dependent on car makers giving some support to privateers. I mean the BMW M3 GT2 was actually built in Munich by BMW Motorsport, it wasn't made by Rahal Letterman - they just run the cars. Thats why BMW shifted an M3 to Goodwood FOS this year, because Munich is not far from Goodwood - its a co-operation. If the car makers don't play ball, then the privateers and the GT classes are screwed.

the point is they need to sell those cars

porsche build cars in stuggart and ship them around the world, ferrari do something similar.

Audi motorsport boss Wolfgang Ullrich says the future of the R15 TDI programme depends entirely on the outcome of the current rules deliberations with Le Mans organiser the ACO.

Peugeot protested the front end design of the Audi R15 prior to this year's Le Mans 24 Hours - an issue resolved by the ACO promising discussions with the LMP1 manufacturers to clarify the rules going forward.

Ullrich insists that if the outcome of the talks goes against Audi's current design, the team will be forced to pull-out as it will not be able to make substantial altereations to the R15.

"If you really have to do a significant change, I think we can't make it because that is not planned," Ullrich told AUTOSPORT.

"The budget is in place, the activities are in place. The R15 was planned to be a car that runs for two years, with for sure an improvement step over the winter, but for sure not doing a nearly new car. This was not planned."

He said Audi could not decide its plans for 2010 until the ACO's final decision on the rules.

"There are some clarifications that have to be worked on," said Ullrich. "What is important for us is that we can continue with the concept of our car. But we still need to be competitive. And before the final wording of the rules are not there we cannot say if this is achieved or not.

"It is a programme for two years and if you can't continue after one year then that is always bad. But I hope we can find a solution.

"We have to find a path from now to Le Mans. If the rulebook allows to take this path with just some last development on the existing car, I think it is a good move for Le Mans and it should be prepared on the level that we have been in previous years. The way to Le Mans is clearly defined."

Ullrich believes that if the rules remained unchanged Audi will be much better prepared to take on Peugeot than it was this year. Although it lost the Petit Le Mans to the 908s yesterday, Audi believes it is closing the gap to the French cars.

"We have not been happy with what we achieved at Le Mans for sure, but the car was just not ready," Ullrich admitted.

"We just use this race weekend for racing, for getting more experience with the car and we think that we just need a little bit of time to exploit the whole potential of the car. That is what we are working on and racing is the best chance to do it."

Toyota don't like diesel for passenger cars, much like Honda they are forced to make diesels for passenger cars for European customers.

Toyota would want to go with a hybrid. Perhaps they could have a tiny electric motor that produces 2 bhp, then the big petrol motor that produces the rest. I mean its a hybrid so it'll save the planet and be bloody noisy. Wink

Its all about the image, hybrids are fashionable. So just stick a tiny electric motor - then the rest is petrol. Its a brilliant. solution.

alms is more about the car on the street, so using a hybrid could work well for them, but the rumour was diesel prototype and LFA new gt1.
