According to Massa, removing KERS has not helped: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74535

Oh dear, Ferrari's season just gets worse and worse.

I think they miss Brawn, Schumi and Todt. The 2007 and 2008 regulations were similar to the 2006 regulations - the final year Schumacher drove for Ferrari. Now that Ferrari have had to design a brand new car, they are nowhere.

looks like ferrari are heading back to late 80s/Early 90s.

The Kers system is apparently beign used on their new F450 though, so it cant be too shoddy!

I assume that the boost on the road car won't be so sudden? affraid But yes, late 80's and early 90's for Ferrari indeed.

I think at Monza KERS will come into its own, 80 bhp more even though your doing 220 mph! lol!

Could the weight at Monaco harm KERS equipped cars? I would have thought the tight turns mean you need a car that is as light as possible - plus their isn't much scope to deploy it - short straights.

short starights less, but 80 bhp and you might be able to overtake, without you can't

In the tunnel one could easily achieve a couple of tenths.

You can, Heidfeld and Webber both overtook Alonso at the chicane in 2005. Wink And in the wet it can be easy, like last year. Wink

Surely this season a bigger fuel tank would be more beneficial than Kers at Monaco?

It might well be, but if the car is quicker than most around it, you could get away with it, but also have a better balance as teh weight of the Kers could be better distributed as Balast for the whole cornering issue

Just a thought

I think they may need it, in Bahrain and Spain there race was nearly ruined by KERS-equipped cars. The Mercedes-Benz system is very light and reliable. The latter would probably be the underlying clincher, Ross would not want to sacrifice gremlins for a quick boost.

True, although as we have seen - even slower cars such as the Ferrari and Mclaren have overtaken non-KERS cars on the run down to turn 1.

its only really a use on the straight & the toyota & brawn can pull away the rest of the lap anyway so when the others start getting their aero sorted out then brawn etc will use KERS.
